PLASTIC FREE KARADKA PANCHAYATH

In accordance with the movements to
make our environment plastic free the Karadka Grama Panchayath has
decided to announce the area 'Plastic free' with effect from November
15. As a move they have initiated the move to create awareness over
the need. Accordingly a widespread campaign in this regard is
launched today involving special Assemblies in all schools of the
panchayath and oath about eradication of plastic at 10.00 a.m.
In the afternoon a rally including Panchayath Members, Members of political parties, representatives of Merchants' Asssociation, General Publilc alongwith the students and staff of schools , went round the town to create an awareness among the public and the merchants regarding the hazards of excessive use and problems caused by the plastic and the need to use other eco friendly alternatives.

Accordingly all the students
of the school assembled and took the pledge to make our Panchayath a
plastic free one and start the use of cotton bags instead. The PTA
President Sri Jagannatha addressed the students and called on them to
practise the healthy, plastic free practice. Sri Narayanan P.
Principal in charge of HSS section, Smt. Chandraprabha K. Sr. Asst of
HS, Ssri Shahul Hameed HSST, and Sri Charles A. H S A also addressed
the students.
Later all students and the teachers took the oath. The students were also prompted to keep the campus always clean especially about plastic. The NSS unit is in charge of monitoring the cleanliness of the campus wherein all the students are equal partners in the campaign.
