A
dream project of DIET Kasaragod visualises a wide network of all
departmental schools of Kasaragod district through the unique concept
BLEND which describes itself as Blog for Dynamic Educational Network.
This is a wide spectrum for all schools to go worldwide, beyond the
campuses, beyond the geographical borders of the panchayath, the
sub-district, the educational district,the revenue
district.......into the vast outer world- the World Wide Web.
As per the visions of the
project every school can publish all its curricular, co-curricular,
extra curricular activities held inside and outside the classrooms in
the forms of reports,pictures, paper cuttings and video clippings
through its own blog. Not only the the parent community but also all
those interested in academic activities held in our schools can view
these details from their home itself. Now that the Net has reached
almost home through the task is not a tedious one.
Even the Monitoring
Authorities and educational functionaries can get in touch with the
schools, follow them up and give instructions and guidance to them
vide this network. The proposers of this scheme also have a vision
the by connecting all the schools and educational offices through
this easily accessible device, they could trigger a new energy and
need among the school personnel to speed up innovative educational
activities in each school .
With this broad vision in mind
our Educational District has stepped into the First phase of Training
in BLEND to teachers of all schools on 3 July 2014 in 14 centres over
the 7 Sub-districts. As a part of this the Training to LP and UP
Teachers of the nearby Panchayaths started at GVHSS Mulleria. Smt.
Chandraprabha K. Senior Assistant of the school inaugurated and
called on the participants to make good use of the training to
create colourful and informative blogs to each school. Sri
Vasantharaja V.P. HSA of the school and RP welcomed all and Sri
Abdul Salam A.M. HSA of GHSS Adoor and RP delivered the vote of
thanks.
19 participants took part in the
training with great interest and got acquainted with the applications
related to Typing in regional language, Graphics and Image Editing.
They went through all the stages of familiaring the new experience
with an ectatic will to create a blog of their own to announce the
progress and achievements of the respective schools.
On the first day the teachers
practised Malayalam and Kannada typing using
Inscript Keyboard.
Though finding different letters in an
Inscript Keyboard is
not easy for a beginner keen interest in the task made them
successful.
Later they stepped into the
world of Graphics through GIMP. The teachers practised
creating a background, typing text using Text tool, scaling the text
using the Scale tool alongwith using a Header by inserting photos and
editing them. The creation of Logos made the participants capable to
design a beautiful Header for their New blog.

The teachers also learnt editing
photos using
gThump Image Viewer, to resize large ones and
crop a particular portion of an image. We should not forget that all
the participants are totally new to use
GIMP and
gThump
Image Viewer. Still, the result was amazing.
The second day the teachers
stepped directly into the world of blogs after visiting some Websites
and Blogs. They logged in to
www.blogger.com
through a link given to them vide
aeokumbla.blogspot.com.

Though the training ended for
the at 4.30 no doubt all departed with a strong determination to
create a blog of their own to highlight the achievements of their and
eager to attend the second session of taining during August. This
determination is evident when we visit their blogs.
